Let It Come Down : the sensitive side of James Iha

In 1998 I bought James Iha’s debut solo album Let it Come Down. The disc contains a surprising selection of bouncy light rock – the songs and the sound of disc is light years from the hard riffing, meandering prog rock of Iha’s other band The Smashing Pumpkins.

The first track on the CD immediately caught my attention back then – Be Strong Now sounds fresh and sunny. By sunny I mean not depressing, unlike the angst filled music of the Smashing Pumpkins. Listening to the album recently, I discovered a few more gems, from the gently rocking Beauty to the ballad Lover, Lover.

Verdict : excellent sensitive light rock
